April 4th, Reyhanli, Türkiye
In many parts of the world, student performances are common. But in the town of Reyhanli, where the SSSP community uplifts refugee youth along the Türkiye-Syria border, something extraordinary happened: children stood on stage for the very first time—and moved us all to tears.
This was more than a school event. It was a milestone born from 15 months of belief, resilience, and transformation. What began as a small online empowerment initiative with volunteer teachers from Taiwan has blossomed into five full phonics classes, with children now confidently reciting poetry, acting in English plays, and singing with pride.
Even those who couldn’t attend contributed through their artwork, poems, and calligraphy, showcased in a vibrant exhibition corner. Every creation whispered the same message: we are here, we matter, and we are growing.
More than language, the SSSP program teaches belief:
– Belief that you are worthy
– That your voice deserves to be heard
– That your story can shape the future
For many families, this showcase marked a first: watching their child perform with pride. And as parents wiped away tears, they whispered what we all felt—“That’s my child. And they did it.”
The day ended with a joyful community potluck, where families shared dishes and laughter. For a moment, there were no labels—only connection, celebration, and a sense of becoming.
We’ll always remember what one parent called it: “Our perfect imperfection.”
