We are thrilled to announce the outstanding success of the Eid Challenge organized by SSSP (Small School Support Project). This special event aimed to inspire young minds and foster a love for learning among children who are eager to explore the world. We are delighted to share that the response was truly remarkable! 🎉
Throughout the sacred month of Ramadan, we wholeheartedly engaged and supported the participating children, with a captivating series of thought-provoking questions and challenges. These encompassed a wide range of topics, including cultural, scientific, and religious aspects. The goal was not only to enhance their knowledge but also to instill a sense of pride in their achievements. We wanted them to experience the joy of working hard and reaping the rewards through their dedication and effort. 💪
As a result of their exceptional efforts, Children have a desire to learn more because they have participated in many educational activities during the Eid Challenge throughout the month of Ramadan. We are delighted to introduce the Library activity in collaboration with our esteemed partner, Violet Organization, based in Reyhanli. This activity aims to take the most active participants on a journey of exploration and knowledge at the library. 📚
It is with great pleasure that we announce the active participation of nearly 30 kids in the Library activity. Their enthusiasm and commitment were truly exceptional, they eagerly awaited each new question. Some went above and beyond, submitting not only written answers but also showcasing their creativity by accompanying their responses with beautiful drawings during the Eid Challenge. Their dedication and passion for learning have truly inspired us to continue this project. 🌟
On the day of the library activity, our SSSP team members started by reading books to the children, aiming to encourage and motivate them to develop a love for reading. The impact was truly remarkable as we observed the children’s eyes light up with curiosity and excitement. It was a heartwarming sight to witness. 😊
We also held more than one Library session, each session had a different approach. For the first session, Hamudi (a member of SSSP) used an interactive reading method to keep the children engaged and teach them a few English words throughout the story-reading process. With consistent questions and tasks directed at the children, the children had no time to be distracted. Some of them would be answering questions, while others would be trying to remember the English synonym for some words that appeared in the book.📚
After the storytelling was over, Lara (the funder of SSSP) held a small bag with small animal figures inside. She would pull out an animal, and ask them about the name of the animal, the colors on its body, and how it sounds or walks, for example. The aim behind this game was to pique the children’s interest and keep them engaged through the elements of mystery and surprise, and it worked out amazingly!📚🤩
In a different session, the kids also played an intriguing game based on rumors. The game started by informing one child in each group about a specific idea or message, keeping it a secret from their teammates. The chosen child then discreetly passed on the information to the next teammate, continuing the process until all group members were individually informed. We used the approach of dividing them into three main leaders and their teams, an approach that taught kids how to be responsible and taught the rest how to adhere to the rules when required!
During the other session, we had the opportunity to ask the children about the books they enjoy reading. To our surprise, we discovered that many of them did not read frequently. However, amidst the group, there was a little girl who confidently expressed her passion for reading. She shared that she reads books every day and absolutely loves it. Her enthusiasm for reading filled us with joy and further highlighted the importance of promoting reading among the children. 📖❤
To explore their reading skills and showcase their abilities, we invited all the children to choose their favorite books. They were given approximately 20 minutes to browse through a variety of books and select the ones that captured their interest. Their excitement was palpable as they carefully made their choices, demonstrating their personal preferences and individual tastes. 📚🤩
Once the children had chosen their favorite books, we encouraged them to read aloud to their friends. The room was filled with a sense of anticipation as each child took turns sharing their selected book with their peers. It was a delightful experience to witness their excellent reading skills and unique reading styles, as they engaged with the stories that had captured their hearts. The children’s enthusiasm and confidence in reading their favorite books were truly inspiring. 🗣📚👏
Overall, it was a super great success in keeping the kids engaged, to the point where some kids were reluctant to leave with their parents when their parents asked to take them out!😊
The objective of this activity was to raise awareness among the children about the importance of reading and to discover their reading skills. We were thrilled to witness firsthand the impact it had on the children. Through their active participation and genuine interest in the books they chose, they showcased their abilities and developed a deeper appreciation for the joy of reading. 🌟📚
As we celebrate the success of the Eid Challenge and the Library activity, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, their parents, and guardians for their unwavering support. Together, let us continue to nurture the love for reading, empowering our children to unlock the vast world of knowledge that lies within the pages of books. 🌈📚🙌
In addition to the Eid Challenge and Library activities, we also celebrated World Refugee Day on June 20th. Using the power of the internet, we connected across four locations, linking the friendship between children from Taiwan and Syria. Participants in this online connection included:
23 students and teachers from Class 401 of Qiwun Elementary School in Taiwan, 5 Syrian children in Turkey, and 3 participants within Syria Of course, our team was also present, joining from Taiwan, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon simultaneously online. Additionally, from South Africa, Gerhard Erasmus, who kindly provided a poetry collection for Palestinian students, also participated. Through our actions, we proved that 💗 LOVE & CARE can transcend national borders and racial differences—nothing is impossible!
