Taiwan × Syria Education Collaboration | November 15, 2025
On November 15, 2025, SSSP (Taiwan International Refugee Education Support Association) and the Taiwan Human Love SME Mutual Aid Association successfully held the very first cross-border “Words for Hope – SSSP × Human Love Youth English Writing Contest.”
This year’s theme, “My Life, My Dream,” invited Syrian youth to express their lives and aspirations in English—using words to bridge cultures, spark understanding, and build empathy across borders.
A total of 38 students registered, and 29 participated on the contest day (12 onsite, 17 online).
By age group:
Group A (10–14 years): 15 students
Group B (15–18 years): 12 students
Group C (19–24 years): 2 students
Throughout the two-hour contest, the students demonstrated remarkable focus and expressive power.
Whether sitting in the room or connected from afar, every participant approached the challenge with seriousness and heart.
As one organizer shared:
“Watching their concentration as they wrote felt like witnessing small ‘sanctuaries of knowledge’ being built inside each of them.”
That level of dedication moved all the volunteers and judges deeply.
This inaugural event marks Human Love’s first step into international educational support, and a new bridge of collaboration between SSSP and Taiwan’s civil society.
Through writing, these young Syrians crossed linguistic and geographical boundaries—using English to tell their stories, share their dreams, and claim their futures.
📅 Next Steps
Judging is currently underway by both organizing teams.
The top three finalists in each group will be announced mid-January 2026 on the Human Love Association’s official website.
The award ceremony will take place during Eid al-Fitr 2026, hosted by SSSP.
💬 Contest Mission
“Education is more than knowledge—it is the continuation of hope.
Through the ‘Words for Hope’ literary award, we give every child a chance to rewrite their destiny with words and sketch their future with dreams.
